4 Great Things About Serviced Apartments

People often think that it must be romantic and exciting to be on the road for long periods. Meeting new people and discovering new cities can be enjoyable, it's true, but there can also be something depressing about it. Spending half your life in a cramped hotel room is nobody's idea of fun, and after a while the novelty wears off. Fortunately, there is a solution. For those who spend a lot of time on the road, a serviced apartment can offer a much better accommodation solution than a hotel, providing a level of comfort, privacy and security that can't be matched. Serviced apartments are similar to hotels, but rather than a single bedroom and bathroom they usually include all the comforts of home, from a fully stocked kitchen to in-room laundry facilities. While hotels are a place to sleep, apartments are a place to live. In the past, apartments such as these were typically reserved for long stays of at least several months. They were used as temporary accommodation for new arrivals in a city while they looked for work and more permanent accommodation. Today, though, the trend has moved towards more short term stays. Businessmen spending a few weeks in a city can use them as a handy base of operations, enjoying the benefits of a larger living space while attending to their work. So, why is a serviced apartment so much better than a hotel room? What's the difference, and why is it worth avoiding hotels?
1. Extra space Serviced apartments are, quite simply, much larger dollar for dollar than hotel rooms. For the price you'd pay for a single room in a hotel you can expect a bedroom, kitchen, lounge and large bathroom. For long term stays this makes all the difference. 2. More convenient housekeeping While it's always pleasant to have a daily cleaning service over a short stay in a hotel (especially when they leaves a mint on the pillow), for a longer stay it can become quite annoying to have a daily interruption. A serviced apartment will generally offer cleaning once or twice per week, which should be more than enough to keep an apartment clean and tidy.
 3. Better facilities Over a month long stay in a hotel, the cost of eating out every night can be phenomenal. A serviced apartment, however, will usually include at least a modest kitchen with the basics required for simple cooking. When you factor in the cost of eating out, a hotel can cost many, many times more than a stay in a serviced apartment. The same goes for laundry, which is almost always vastly overpriced in a hotel. Self-service can bring the cost crashing down. 4. More privacy Finally, an apartment will offer much more privacy than a hotel room. While in a hotel you are always just a thin door away from guests and staff walking the corridors, an apartment will offer the kind of peace and quiet you'll find back at home, allowing you to relax and enjoy your trip without stress.
